Lubing the Brake/Clutchpedal Shaft

Probably no one has ever wanted to lube the brake and clutch pedal shaft but this is what I did to make it easier. This is a proven method, I did it to my TR6 and it works great.

One of the photos shows the tools. A center punch because starting a drill on a round surface is not very easy. A 1/8" drill to drill through the pedal tube. A 1/8" center drill for the chamfer. And the attachment for the grease gun.

This is easier if the pedal box is not in the car like when I did the Midget but can be done with it in also, I did the TR6 when it was in the car. Either way it only takes a few minutes.

A couple things to watch out for.
Make sure the holes are made where they can be accessed with the grease attachment. If doing this when the pedals are on the pivot shaft drill into the shaft so the center drill does not have to. When using the center drill be careful to not tip it while drilling, the points on center drills break but don't bend. If doing this while the parts are assembled do not move the pedals because that might break the drills. AND wear eye safety and a full face shield would be recommended if doing this while the assembly is in the car and working under the dash.

One more thing, only make the chamfer deep enough that the point of the grease attachment makes contact. Too deep and the point will prevent making a seal.
