Fall Tour 2003
Threatening skies on Friday afternoon did little to dampen our spirits as we began our annual Fall Tour. This year we booked rooms and cabins in Wisconsin Dells and stretched the tour for an extra day. A 'Nawlins' feast of jambalaya, gumbo and assorted dishes to pass served to Cajun music provided plenty to eat for the dozens of attendees. After dark a bonfire provided late-night entertainment.
Saturday morning greeted us with clear skies, and though there was a morning chill some braver souls doffed their tops to enjoy the day's drive in roadster style. An hour-long preview tour followed by lunch prepared us for the afternoon drive. Da commish found more than a hundred miles of awesome roads which took us through some of Wisconsin's gorgeous scenery. Along the route there were optional stops at the North Freedom Midcontinent Railway, Ski Hill Apple Orchard, Devil's Lake, Durward's Glen, and Parfrey's Glen. An additional attraction was the Extreme World go-kart track where some of us fantasized being the next Formula One champion.
That evening the group gathered once more to eat, drink, and be merry. A regalia raffle followed, and prizes for the best and worst poker-run hands were awarded.
Sunday morning came too soon as we departed and headed our separate ways. This year's tour raised the bar for Fall Tour standards, and kudos to Linda, Dave, Ann, Dawn, Judy, and everyone who helped and/or showed up to make this our best Fall Tour yet! (and Dick Brown for additional photos!)
